933a.jpg (22442 bytes)933b.jpg (22500 bytes)16th Century gem nestling in the spectacular scenery of Glencoe in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The Clachaig is easy to miss as the journey along the A82 is joy to drive but a very short detour via this inn is a must. The food is excellent quality, there are a range of well kept real ales and the usual array of whisky to be expected in Scotland

934a.jpg (17156 bytes)934b.jpg (14032 bytes)19th Century travellers' inn located on the A836 and surrounded by - Nothing ! The Crask is as remote an inn as you'll find but the welcome is as warm as you'll find anywhere. Not much in the way of a bar and no TV but then wild magnificent Scottish countryside is a plenty. You may even get invited to see the new litter of collie puppies or feed a new born lamb. The Crask Inn may be basic and it may be the only place for miles but it's worth calling in regardless and if you wish to see the most spectacular of night sky with no light pollution, then this is the place to stay.

Locations don't get any better than this. Originally starting out as a smiddy’s forge, The Old Forge has no roads in or out and an 18 mile hike over munros or a 7 mile sea crossing from Mallaig are virtually the only way of visiting, making this the remotest pub in mainland Britain. The Old Forge serves spectacular local seafood and serves real ales & good wines. Expect live music as the Forge has its own instruments available for customers to play.
