ancashire comprises a lowland area in the west, along the Irish Sea, and an interior upland area. It is primarily an agricultural county centred on dairy farming, livestock raising, and the growing of vegetables. From the 17th century, the region developed as a textile-manufacturing centre and the industry is still important today.
Although Lancashire has a variety of large towns and cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, the Ribble Valley and the Lancashire dales are a haven of peace and tranquillity. In the Forest of Boland, you may hear tales of the 17th-century witches of Pendle.
