Superb 11th century country pub in a small secluded village close to the Oxfordshire border. The Rose & Crown is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a Roundhead from the nearby battle of Edgehill. Exposed beams, flagstone floors and two log fires supplement the dim lighting. This friendly, family-run local has a cosy snug which serves as a children's room and there is an active Aunt Sally team. The Grade I listed Rose and Crown was built of Hornton stone in 1098 for local stone masons.
